Euroanaesthesia 2011 will take place in Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre on 11-14 June 2011. This will be the seventh annual meeting of ESA, which will focus on promoting exchange in education, research and innovation across continents.
Euroanaesthesia 2011 will provide the participants with a forum to refresh their knowledge base and explore the most up-to-date information regarding Anaesthesiology and to meet and interact with the leading scientists and physicians in the field. The ESA Scientific Committee has planned a comprehensive programme including refresher courses, interactive discussions, workshops, and abstract presentations. Internationally renowned clinical and scientific experts in the field of Anaesthesiology, coming from European and non-European countries, have been invited together with lecturers from other related areas of expertise providing information on the latest developments in research, technical innovation and clinical treatment. This reflects the vision of ESA to develop closer communication and cooperation with other scientific societies across the world which have expertise in specific medical areas with mutual interests.
During Euroanaesthesia 2011, specific sessions will be dedicated to: a) “Hot topics” in Anaesthesia, Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Pain medicine; b) Practical developments following the signing of the Helsinki Declaration on Patient Safety in Anaesthesiology; c) Relationships with colleagues working in the perioperative medicine; d) Economical and organisational issues; e) Confrontation between experiences in the various fields of interest regarding Anaesthesiology in- and outside Europe. Recent educational, training, and research projects as well as new opportunities for European anaesthesiologists to join in collaborative research projects will be presented together with new grants and awards for young researchers. The ESA Plenary Lecture, now renamed to ‘Sir Robert Macintosh Lecture’ after the first Professor of Anaesthetics outside USA, will be given on Saturday 11 June 2011 by Professor Sten Lindahl employed by Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden as Professor and Director of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Department Chief of Research and Education as well as Executive Vice President.
