The 37th Annual Meeting of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation will take place at Palais des Congress in Paris, France, between the 3rd and 6th of April 2011.
The Scientific Programme will include the usual symposia, educational sessions and workshops covering key issues related to the specific problems of stem cell transplantation, such as the changing indications of transplantation everyday challenged by the development of new targeted therapies, or the management of acute and chronic graft versus host disease which unfortunately remains a major challenge in the present.
A particular attention will be paid to new developments in cell therapy such as embryonic stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells which may in the near future provide additional graft sources. Plan is to introduce a special symposium on the role of autologous stem cell transplantation for the treatment of Acute Myelocytic Leukemia and will of course preserve the “Controversies in SCT” as an exciting format for presentation of debatable issues.
On this annual meeting occasion, the EBMT Nurses Group will celebrate its 27th anniversary, the 3rd EBMT Quality Management Meeting will be hosted as well as the 5th EBMT Patient & Familly Day.
